Trailer Rants : Why Master Chief Deserved To Be Punched In The Face
Find Out Why Maybe Master Chief Deserved To Be Punched In The Face.
E3 was an exciting time for everyone in the gaming industry. Everyone eager to see what new games would fall upon us over Christmas and next year. Okay admittedly it was a little disappointing on certain fronts but one game which came out shining was of course Halo 4. With such a strong series behind it 343 Industries are continuing the epic saga to explore all new worlds.
The E3 game play trailer featured a lot of new content as well as some awesome game play footage, but I can honestly say that I believe that Master Chief deserved to be punched in the face during the final moments.

Master Chief is no stranger to aliens constantly trying to rip him apart I mean this dude has survived three titles which featured a hefty amount of various life forms with the sole purpose of hunting the man in green down. For any of you who have played the Halo games, you already know this but, the key to his survival is either, strafe and shoot; run back and shoot; jump manically and shoot; or run forwards shoot and when their shields are down nail them with your first or blunt end of whatever firearm you wield. These tactics partnered with a few grenades and you instantly claim the title of 'GODLIKE' to any hostile alien in the known universe.
Although Master Chief has survived previous encounters with the flood and the covenant it seems this brand new species completely baffles him, and this is where we get to the annoying part. If you skip to ( 6:10 ) of the above video you will be with our saviour as he explores a dense forest on an unknown planet fighting against random energy based aliens. After he jumps into a pit which is covered in a thick fog our brave hero activates a form of thermal vision. What awaits him is a few little critters running around the trees, then some aliens packing heat, oh and even more aliens and oh my god so many aliens!
Although he has made this discovery he refuses to engage, refuses to run, refuses to make any kind of effort as if all hope is lost. It's not hard, start walking back and shoot! You have done it in every other game! But unfortunately not, the chief stands proudly as one of the soldiers smack him straight in the face, and before he knows it, he's on his floor surprised of the outcome and then gets beaten down again, all fades to black and the video continues. I can't help but think he just deserved it. Hes the cheif for crying out loud, hell if he cant do it who can?

Although I am looking forward to the game I thought the entire trailer process was a little tedious. Yes I know it is insanely scripted as the enemies line themselves up for the perfect take downs, and the player who is in control has the dodging ability of a legless sloth. But I think I would have preferred it if they just showed off some more hardcore game play featuring explosions, vehicles and the rest but oh well maybe that's my own personal preference.
As a final note I would like to say I thought the live action section of the trailer is fantastic and is definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it already.
