A Calender Of Tales Competition
Neil Gaiman, DeviantArt And Blackberry Join Forces To Find The Illustrators Of Tomorrow
Neil Gaiman has recently released his 'Calender Of Tales', a unique atory for each month of the year. Now he is looking for the illustrators, film makers and personalities of the future to help bring his work to life. In association with Deviant Art and Blackberry, a competition has been announced looking for illustrations for each tale as well as videos of your readings of the tales.
"Neil’s writing naturally lends itself to being translated for the screen. His imagery and characters are so compelling, the worlds he creates so engrossing it’s no surprise his novels have been turned into hit movies. Best-selling novel Stardust was given the Hollywood treatment in 2007 and, more recently, Coraline became an award-winning, feature-length animation.
You’ve inspired him, now let him inspire you. Neil is keen on his work being adapted into other media. Coraline started life as a children’s novel, then became a graphic novel, three puppet plays and an off-Broadway musical, as well as the animated film. Now it’s your turn to adapt one of his stories – this is your chance to show Neil what you can do."
